‘Glee’ takes on Britney Spears again

It's "Glee" doing Britney, b----. Thursday's episode of the Fox hit will feature Lea Michele, Heather Morris, and the rest of the "Glee" cast in their second episode packed with the hits of Britney Spears. This time around, the gang will perform their own versions of "Oops! I Did It Again," "3," "Everytime," "Hold It Against Me," Womanizer," and "Gimme More." Of course, Gleeks will also be treated to a couple of the show's signature medleys. The episode offers a beautiful, slow cover of "(You Drive Me) Crazy" interspersed with Aerosmith's "Crazy," and a take on Spears' "Boys" intermixed with Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend." Bieber and "Glee" together again? Some kids are not going to be able to sleep tonight!

"Glee" is much different than it was when it aired the first episode dedicated to Spears back in 2010. Several characters, including Lea Michele's Rachel, Chris Colfer's Kurt, and Cory Monteith's Finn, graduated from McKinley High at the end of last season. Last week's season premiere was an example of how the show's fourth season will split its focus between the kids still in New Directions and the grads' college adventures. Cast member Naya Rivera, who wasn't in last week's episode because her character is away at the University of Louisville in Kentucky on a cheerleading scholarship, teased this week that fans aren't going to be disappointed with the change. "I think it's going to be the best season yet," she said at a news conference following the ALMA Awards honoring the best American Latino contributions to entertainment. Rivera picked up not one but two honors, for best female in a TV comedy and best female musical artist, at the Sunday fete in L.A.

And Rivera could have a lot more awards coming her way. The 25-year-old — who tweeted this summer that she's working on a "dance pop" album — also revealed at the ALMAs that she's signed with Elton John's music management company to help forge her career in music. "They're helping me just really finalize everything," she said. "And by the end of the year my single will definitely be out and the fans won't have to wait anymore!"
