The Fabulous Fanning Sisters
The world has watched Dakota Fanning go from cutesy child star to acclaimed young actress and fashion plate, and now her little sister, Elle, is following in her older sibling's footsteps. The two talked with W magazine about fame, fashion, and finding furniture.

"It's all I've ever experienced, and it's what I'm used to," Dakota, 17, says of fame in the magazine's December issue. "When you're 6 years old, which is when I started, I think you start forming how you think about things. I've dealt with being known for so long that it's just kind of normal to me. And that attention comes with what I love to do, which is act."

Though Elle used to be mistaken for her big sis, she's now enjoying her own fame. "After 'Somewhere' came out [in 2010], people started to recognize me more. Whenever I was walking down the street, they'd be like, 'Oh, wow -- are you Elle Fanning?' Before 'Somewhere,' they asked me if I was Dakota Fanning, because we looked alike," the 13-year-old explains. "I think they are starting to realize I'm my own person."

Style-obsessed Elle recently got to live her dream of going to Paris and attending the Chanel couture show over the summer. And, yes, it lived up to her expectations.
"When I found out that I was invited to the Chanel show -- that was the loudest I've ever screamed in my life," she admits. "That was the best day of my life. It was my first fashion show, and I know every model by name."
Meanwhile, Dakota marked her own milestone this past summer -- moving from Los Angeles to New York City to begin college at New York University, which meant living in her very own apartment for the first time.

"I'm so excited to be on my own. In my house in L.A., we all feel that everything is everybody's, and so doors are never really closed," says Dakota. "My sister and I share a bathroom, and when you have a sibling, nothing is actually your own. I've never really had anything or any place that was just mine."
As for furnishing her new pad, well, she's almost there. "About the only thing I don't have is a couch! That's the hardest thing about furnishing the apartment," Dakota reveals. "I'm trying out a couch and thinking, 'Is this where I want to watch my shows? Am I comfortable enough here?' The couch has been a bit of an ordeal!"
