Crush: Hollywood’s Next GenerationDemi Lovato Turns 18!
Although it's Demi Lovato's 18th birthday today (August 20), the Disney star decided to give her family a special gift: a Mediterranean-style home just outside of Los Angeles.
"For me to give [that] to my family on my birthday, that was the best birthday present," the young actress -- who plans to live on the property in a guest house -- told People. "It's got pretty much everything you could possibly imagine in it. It's the most beautiful, homey-feeling house. The pool has a water slide ... I love it."
Since she's currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers promoting her new Disney Channel flick, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam," Demi celebrated her special day at Asian eatery Buddakan in NYC. Guests included her little sister Madison de la Garza ("Desperate Housewives"), as well as Joe and Nick Jonas. Although Demi and Joe are no longer a couple, it's cool that they've remained friends ... particularly since they went through a very public split. Still, Demi can't help but wish she would have kept their relationship a secret.
"You want to say to your fans, 'Guess what, I'm so in love with somebody,'" she admitted to People. "You want to shout it from the rooftops. That's what you do when you fall in love. At the same time, I learned my lesson. You know, I'll go public when I marry someone one day."
