Naya Rivera Written Out of 'Glee' Finale… Has She Been Fired?

It's never a dull day on the set of "Glee."

Naya Rivera, who plays Santana Lopez on Fox's hit show, has been written out of the Season 5 finale, sources tell Yahoo TV. The 27-year-old actress cleaned out her trailer and will not be returning to set… but is it because she is on hiatus or because she is gone for good?

One insider tells Yahoo TV that Rivera has been fired. Us Weekly, the New York Daily News, and TMZ have reported the same. "Things came to a head during a disagreement earlier this month," says the source regarding tension on the set.

However, a different production source cautions that Rivera is just on hiatus from the show, and her future is up in the air. "There haven't been any determinations regarding Season 6," says our insider.

E! News is reporting that while Rivera was written out of the finale, no decision has been made whether she will be back for Season 6.

It's not surprising then, that a rep for the actress emphatically denies she was given the ax.

"Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from 'Glee' are absolutely untrue," her publicist says in a statement. "End of story."

The key player that is remaining quiet about all of the reports circulating is Fox. The network is not commenting on the situation.

One big rumor that keeps popping up is that star Lea Michele had something to do with Rivera's leave of absence and/or possible firing. While multiple insiders confirm there has been tension between the two, a source close to Michele insists she had nothing to do with the decision to have Rivera written out of the finale.

Both girls are playing nice (and fulfilling contract obligations) at least on social media. Michele tweeted at Rivera during the #GleeAlong Tuesday night:

However, Naya opted to keep her remarks more general.

As for Rivera's future on "Glee"… stay tuned.

"Glee" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
