Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Bid France Adieu for Italian Wedding

Ciao, Italy!

Despite both Kim Kardashian and Kanye West declaring that their lavish wedding would take place in France — not to mention the reality star's Parisian-themed bridal shower — the couple has selected a different location. The venue for their nuptials will be Florence.

Sources tell Yahoo that invited guests have been kept in the dark about specific details regarding Kimye's May 24 ceremony, but it looks like attendees should pack for Italy.

The couple will wed at the Forte di Belvedere, per reports in People and Us Weekly.  A representative for the Florence mayor's office told the Assoicated Press on Friday that West, 36, and Kardashian, 33, will get have both the ceremony and reception at the 16th-century fort, located next to the famed Boboli Gardens. Spokeswoman Elisa Di Lupo also revealed that a Protestant minister will preside and that Kimye threw down about $410,000 for their special day.

West has been spending time in Florence this week, studying with designer Ermanno Scervino. In an interview with Florence's La Nazione newspaper published Friday, West discussed his love for the Italian city.

"I love Florence, I love Italy and the Italian lifestyle," the rapper said, adding that he and Kim came to Florence last year "incognito."

(A noted Francophile, West also enjoys la bella vita. He proposed to ex-fiancée Alexis Phifer in Italy over a lobster and pasta dinner during a vacation on the island of Capri in August 2006.)

"I think we conceived our daughter North here, among the masterpieces of the Renaissance," the rapper continued. "It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, for me the most beautiful in Europe."

The fact that West has been spending time with Scervino could give yet another hint as to who will design the bride or groom's ensemble for their big day. Both have worn Scervino before, Kim memorably rocking his white lace creation while celebrating her 33rd birthday in Las Vegas in October.

Still, there are plenty of high-end fashion houses that could design the gown that Kardashian will wear down the aisle. Last month, she was spotted doing fittings at Lanvin, Balmain, and Givenchy. Considering the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star told Vogue that there will be "multiple costume changes" at her wedding, we expect to see a lot of couture and various designers represented.

Former "Project Runway" contestant Michael Costello confirmed that some of Kim's guests will be wearing his custom designs.

"The designs are very romantic silhouettes, and they all have influences of lace," Costello told E! News, noting all of the guests he is dressing, "wanted lace. I feel like lace is part of the wedding."

Costello is designing dresses for Brittny Gastineau, Larsa Pippen, Blac Chyna, and Carla Dibello.

So what happened to Kimye's supposed lavish wedding in Paris? After all, the couple was rumored to have chosen the Chateau Louis XIV as a venue for their wedding or reception.

In true Kimye fashion, two countries just might be better than one.

Kim and Kanye's celebration could begin with a dinner in Paris, as the Kardashian-Jenner clan is expected to touch down in the City of Light soon to kick off the festivities.
