LeAnn Rimes adopts puppy that was thrown out of a car in Los Angeles

LeAnn Rimes has opened her heart — and home — to a traumatized little puppy.

The country singer was so moved when she read a friend's online post about a dog being thrown out of a moving car into traffic on a Los Angeles street that she immediately adopted the animal. Just hours after the pup's life was in peril, it was already adjusting to a life in Rimes' posh pad.

"We have a new member of our family… Meet Eveie," Rimes tweeted Wednesday after bringing the 8-month-old dog to the luxury home she shares with husband Eddie Cibrian, his two sons, and their other dogs. Rimes later explained that the dog's name — officially Eveie Blanket Cibrian — was thought up by her stepson Mason, 9, who had been saving the moniker "for his little sister, so he says." The middle name came from Eveie's habit of chewing on blankets.

"We ALL fell in love at first sight," the 30-year-old, who recently sought treatment for emotional issues, later wrote in her blog. "Even our doggies welcomed her instantly. … She's brought a ton of joy into our home in just the few hours she's been with us. Eveie has a new home and family and we have a new love!"

Rimes is a well-known animal lover who at one point had a total of seven dogs and seven cats. She often shares photos of her teacup Pomeranian Virgo with her Twitter followers.

"My dogs are about unconditional love," Rimes has said. "It's so wonderful to walk in the door from a long day and all they want to do is be loved and to give and give."

Now there will be even more love given and received at the Rimes-Cibrian home — thanks to sweet little Eveie.
