Jessica Chastain Takes Three-Legged Dog for Walk Before Hitting Stage

No dog walkers for Jessica Chastain! The Oscar-nominated actress did all the dirty work herself on Thursday when she took her three-legged terrier Chaplin for some exercise outside the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City before her performance in “The Heiress.”

This is not the first time little Chaplin, who is missing his front left leg, has accompanied his famous owner to work. This past summer, he was spotted on the NYC set of “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” getting carried around by the “Zero Dark Thirty” star. Chastain, 35, also has two other rescue dogs, who live primarily at her Santa Monica, California, home – Radley, a corgi-spaniel mix, and Roman, a Chihuahua mix.

Animals are clearly a passion for the actress. Named Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in June 2012, she’s also a vegan, who says she took up the lifestyle (which shuns all animal products, like milk, eggs, and honey) 15 years ago because, “I don’t want to torture anything. It's about trying to live a life where I'm not contributing to the cruelty in the world. While I am on this planet, I want everyone I meet to know that I am grateful they are here."
