Now that recreational marijuana use is legal in Washington State and Colorado, celebrities are speaking more openly about their own relationships with pot use.

In a new interview with E! News, hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa and his pregnant fiancée, Amber Rose, say that they intend to teach their child responsibly about pot – the same way many parents have taught their children about alcohol. Their first child together is due in January.

While the couple is making all sorts of arrangements as they prepare for first-time parenthood, Kalifa tells E! he has no plans to stop smoking weed. "I'm not going to be smoking right there over the baby, because smoke in general and being high is not good for a kid,” he explained. “None of that. But definitely he's going to know what it is—and he'll know the difference between being a child and not being able to use it and being an adult and knowing how to use it."

"It's just like alcohol, basically,” Rose added. “That's how I feel about it, you know. When you're a kid, you know that you're not supposed to drink alcohol, that it's for adults and that's it… Our son is just going to know that daddy likes to smoke."

Rose also tells E! News that she's planning to deliver her child at home, via a natural water birth. "I'm looking forward to the pain, actually," she said. "My family thinks I'm crazy, but I want to feel the pain and I want...the end result, just holding my baby and going through all that for him.”

The engaged couple broke the their pregnancy news to MTV on the red carpet of the 2012 Video Music Awards. They were engaged earlier in the year. "We're expecting a beautiful little baby, me and Amber,” Kalifa told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway back in September. “We're so excited we're having a baby!"

Kalifa and Rose aren’t the first celebrity parents to talk about weed with their kids. Back in September, Snoop Lion (previously “Snoop Dogg”), probably the biggest proponent of cannabis, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his approach to talking about the drug with his eldest son, Corde (who goes by the rap name “Spanky Danky”), after photos surfaced on Corde’s Twitter of son lighting up dad’s bong. “A lot of motherf---ers don't have a relationship with their kids, and that's when they get on drugs and have suicidal thoughts and drive drunk.,” Snoop said. “Me and my son is mellow. I'm his father, so I wanna show him the proper way because he looks up to me.”

One celeb who changed his ways for parenthood is Mark Wahlberg. In January 2011 at the Palm Springs Film Festival, he told E! that he “stopped smoking weed for his kids.” "One day, we were driving and you could smell it from somewhere,” he said. “My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk… Then she said, 'Sometimes Daddy smells like that!' to me and my wife. So I knew I had quit," he continued.

In California, pot isn’t yet legal, but according to a headline in The New York Times on Thursday, it “might as well be.” Former Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger cited, “the acceptance of open marijuana smoking in a list of reasons he thought Venice, California, was such a wonderful place for his morning bicycle rides,” The Times reported. While in office, Schwarzenegger decriminalized possessions of small amounts of the drug.
