Is the Vanity Fair-Gwyneth Paltrow Feud Really Over an Alleged Affair?

The Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Vanity Fair battle has taken a salacious turn.

According to a report out of Page Six on Friday, the magazine is digging into Paltrow's relationship with Miami billionaire Jeff Soffer, who is married to Elle Macpherson.

"Vanity Fair is asking if Gwyneth had an affair with Jeff back in 2008 when he reopened the Fontainebleau," a Miami society source supposedly told the New York Post. "He flew her in for the party, and she stayed at his house."

The actress, 41, married Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2003. They have two children together, daughter Apple, 9, and son Moses, 7.

Paltrow's rep, Stephen Huvane, tells omg! that the accusation is "completely false."

"Jeff has been a longtime friend of Gwyneth's and there was never a romantic relationship with him," says Huvane. "The weekend in Miami that the Post refers to was a weekend in which Jeff flew down many of his friends, not just Gwyneth."

That's true: Gwyneth's pal Kate Hudson was also one of the many A-list stars in attendance.

"We also do not have any indication that the VF piece ever mentions this ridiculous rumor," adds Paltrow's rep.

For those of you not up to date on the Gwyneth/VF battle, here is where it all began.

In September, the New York Times ran an article claiming Paltrow urged friends not to participate in an unauthorized piece the magazine was planning to run on the actress.

"Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine," read an email Gwyneth reportedly sent to friends. "If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again."

Vanity Fair's editor-in-chief Graydon Carter then confirmed this week that a Gwyneth article was in the works.

"We started a story on her," Carter told the Times of London. "We have a very good writer and it'll run … she sort of forced my hand."

The writer is Vanessa Grigoriadis, who has interviewed celebs like Justin Timberlake in the past for the magazine.

As for what the Gwyneth article is really about, we have a feeling a lot of people will be picking up the issue to find out!
