MTV’s “Teen Mom 2” just got a little more real.

One of its stars, Kailyn Lowry, 20, has admitted she’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

According to an interview she gave to fan site, Lowry got into a huge fight with her husband, Javi Marroquin, and his family which inspired her to seek counseling. It was during those sessions that she received the diagnosis.

“My mom is bipolar and it turns out that I am too,” she said. defines the disease as “an affective disorder characterized by periods of mania alternating with periods of depression, usually interspersed with relatively long intervals of normal mood.”

Kailyn, who is mom to three-year-old Isaac with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera, is said to be starting medical treatment in the near future.

Lowry and Marroquin announced their engagement in September 2012 and tied the knot in a secret ceremony shortly thereafter. While Lowry currently lives in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Marroquin continues Air Force training in Texas. According to Lowry’s Twitter feed, the pair will be reunited for Valentine’s Day.

At least Lowry’s difficulties appear to be under control. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for her “Teen Mom 2” co-star Jenelle Evans, who recently announced her second pregnancy, had a miscarriage scare, and filed five assault charges against the baby daddy, her husband Courtland Rogers, all in a matter of days.
