Katharine McPhee's smooch scandal is having a ripple effect.

After news broke the 29-year-old actress, who is married, was photographed locking lips with her one-time "Smash" director Michael Morris — who has three young daughters with his wife, actress Mary McCormack — he suddenly finds himself out a job.

Deadline reports that Morris, who directed seven episodes of "Smash," was supposed to helm "Songbyrd," a scripted pilot for E!, but his services are no longer needed amid controversy surrounding his alleged extramarital affair.

In addition to losing work, it seems Morris may have lost his wife and the family home they share with daughters Margaret, 9, Rose, 6, and Lillian, 2. While the buzz coming from McPhee's camp indicates that she and her manager husband Nick Cokas, who is nearly 20 years her senior, quietly split earlier this year and have been unofficially separated, Morris and his wife of 10 years reportedly were not. McCormack, who has appeared on TV's "Welcome to the Family" and "In Plain Sight," was said to have been shocked to learn of her husband's infidelity.

"Mary threw Michael out of the house on Sunday night when he told her that TMZ had the photos and that they were about to be released,” an insider told New York Post's Page Six. (Reps for the two did not return requests for comment when contacted by Page Six. A rep for McPhee has not responded to omg!'s request for comment.)

The newspaper also reports that Morris initially tried to purchase the incriminating photos himself. (In the series of pics, which were taken in broad daylight in a Los Angeles parking lot, he and McPhee were seen kissing several times and holding hands.) Obviously that didn't pan out.

Meanwhile, McPhee, who is trying to reboot her singing career since "Smash" was canceled in May, is said to be red-faced over the headlines.

"She is SO embarrassed she was caught," a source told Us Weekly about the undeniable photos. "She should have known better!"
