For a film as intense as "Spring Breakers," Thursday's Los Angeles premiere was nothing short of a family affair.

Female leads Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson turned up to promote the Harmony Korine-directed study in sexuality, violence, and isolation of discontented coeds desperate for a good time on their semester hiatus.

The ladies brought the glamour for the red carpet at Hollywood's Cinema Dome, but called personal reinforcements for the screening and afterparty.

Hudgens counted her "High School Musical" pal Ashley Tisdale as a guest, Shay Mitchell came through for her "Pretty Little Liars" co-star Benson, and Gomez brought her mom, Mandy.

The subject matter in "Breakers" isn't exactly one we'd expect from this trio of family-friendly actresses. Their characters drink and use illegal substances liberally, don't shy away from temptations of the flesh and welcome danger, especially gunplay, with open arms. But, rest assured, none of them felt exploited.

"Harmony made us feel safe," Hudgens told omg!, "and everything that happens serves the story. We couldn't go wrong."

Gomez felt relief that her character, the churchgoing girl of the fictional group, didn't get into too much trouble.

"She's not that bad," Gomez confessed, "but I had no idea how to smoke the prop cigarette. I had no idea! I had grips teaching me how it should look."

Korine credited the girls' kinship with their success in playing a wild bunch.

"They rehearsed, and spent a lot of down time together," he said.

As soon as credits rolled on the screening, Gomez and Hudgens, sprinted to Sunset Boulevard in their floor-length gowns to a waiting party bus, where friends like former "Desperate Housewives" actor Shawn Pyfrom applauded them. En route, Gomez quick-changed from her red lacy number to a black leather mini and descended on nearby nightspot Emerson Theater, where a unique selection of stars including Casey Affleck, Julie Delpy, Gus Van Sant, Marilyn Manson, and Stephen Dorff toasted the flick.

Cheeseburgers and french fries circulated courtesy of Fatburger, while a photo booth starred a cutout of "Breakers" male lead James Franco, in character as rapper Alien.

Guests got to pose with props like the platinum grills and neon pink ski masks featured in the movie for a series of photos that would become personalized flip books.
