The truth really is out there … according to Russell Crowe.

On Tuesday, the “Les Mis” actor tweeted a video he claims shows a UFO flying above his office in Australia.

“UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside RC's Woolloomooloo Office (THESE ARE REAL!),” Crowe, 48, wrote along with a link to the video on YouTube posted by a user who goes by the handle ParallelUniverse1234.

Strange as it may seem, Javert’s evidence is compelling. In the 23-second video, photos are shown in a time lapse of a red glowing rectangular object making its way across the sky.

Still, some of his Twitter followers are not so sure they’re believers and made some funny cracks at the actor’s expense. "Are they finally back to pick you up??” joked @MichaelBuie.

When other commenters suggested the glowing orb could be the result of his camera’s lens or flash, Crowe posted the video a second time with the caption, “No Flash, can't be a lense flare because it moves , camera is fixed.”

After even more followers raised other explanations for what he captured, Crowe posted his evidence a third time, clarifying, “It's not a video it is 3 time lapse photo's taken in 4.5 seconds.” “You do realise it's a yacht?” tweeted @AndrewMcTimaru, to which Crowe wrote back, “We considered that...but to cover that distance in 4.5 secs it would have to be travelling at 80km per hour.”

When another skeptical follower requested that Crowe post “those original photos,” he retorted, “That is the original photo's you egg beater.” (Someone is a sensitive conspiracy theorist, no?)

The follower who suggested Crowe’s UFO was merely a yacht took his ribbing a step further when he re-posted the video on YouTube … with a few enhancements. “It turns out that the mystery object is a clearly identifiable apparition of Dame Edna Everage,” wrote Andrew McTimaru, who added photos of the Australian cross-dressing comedian standing beneath the UFO. “What business Dame Edna may have with Crowe is still unexplained. Further video analysis may be required. This is very spooky possums!”

What do you think? Did Crowe really capture evidence of a UFO … or is he being a bit gullible?
