Nikki Reed Files for Divorce From Paul McDonald

Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald's love story is officially ending.

The "Twilight" actress, 26, filed for divorce from the former "American Idol" contestant, 29, on May 16 in Los Angeles. According to court documents obtained by Yahoo, Reed cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. She requested that McDonald not be awarded spousal support.

The pair met at the premiere of the movie "Little Red Riding Hood" in March 2011, got engaged three months later, and, according to the divorce filing, were married in July. In October of that year, they had an official ceremony in Malibu, where they exchanged vows in front of 100 guests. "We couldn't be happier!" Reed told Us Weekly at the time. "[We were] surrounded by our family and friends. We're so glad this day has come!"

After nearly three years of marriage, Reed and McDonald announced their separation in March. They revealed that they had already been living apart for six months, but that the split wasn't goodbye forever. "They will continue to share their love of music, and are still working on their debut album, 'I'm Not Falling,' releasing in 2014," a statement released at the time said. "They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together."
