Neil Patrick Harris Wants You to be the Star of His Autobiography!

We can't "wait for it."

Neil Patrick Harris has an autobiography coming out this fall and it promises to be different than the typical celebrity memoir. The How I Met Your Mother alum, 40, is writing a Choose Your Own Adventure-style book.

The genre of books first became popular in the 1980s, apparently winning a fan in a young NPH. So that's the style in which he'll pen his tome and readers will "live his life," according to the book's website. "You will be born in New Mexico. You will get your big break at an acting camp. You will get into a bizarre confrontation outside a nightclub with actor Scott Caan."

However, they'll then be able to choose which path to take.

"You will decide whether to try out for Doogie Howser, M.D.. You will decide whether to spend years struggling with your sexuality. You will decide what kind of caviar you want to eat on board Elton John's yacht," it promises.

Those who go the right way, end up with "fame, fortune, and true love" — a nod to his current life with David Burtka and family — while others could end up on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew.

Unlike the Choose Your Own Adventures we remember reading as kids, Harris also promises drink recipes (!) as well as magic tricks, embarrassing childhood photos, and — because we are talking NPH here — a closing song. It goes on sale Oct. 14.

The inner '80s kids in us haven't been this excited since we heard that a Sweet Valley High movie is in the works.
