Melanie Griffith is sending a clear message about her post-split mindset.
After announcing in June that she and Antonio Banderas were divorcing after 18 years of marriage, many were wondering what would happen to Griffith's giant "Antonio" heart tattoo.
Well, it would appear as if she has begun the removal process. The 56-year-old actress has been spotted around Los Angeles with a bandage over her right arm where she was inked. Over the weekend, Griffith made it very clear that she is focusing on herself, writing "Mel" over that bandage in black ink.
This isn't the actress's first attempt at getting rid of the tattoo (just a more permanent one). Last month, Griffith stepped out at a red carpet event and blotted out the name "Antonio" with makeup.
Banderas, 53, has also been distancing himself from the situation… physically. According to Fox News, the actor was spotted visiting Machu Picchu in Peru's Cuzco region with their 17-year-old daughter, Stella.
After battling break up rumors for years, the couple announced last month that they were ending their relationship.
"We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together," Griffith and Banderas said in a joint statement.
Griffith cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The Working Girl actress also asked for spousal support, child support, and sole physical and joint legal custody of their daughter, Stella. However, she turns 18 in September.
