Matthew McConaughey Names His Son Livingston
Hold off on sending Matthew McConaughey any pink gifts for his new baby!
On Friday, it was widely reported that the actor and his wife, Camila, had welcomed a daughter. And while the third little McConaughey was in fact born Friday – in their hometown of Austin, Texas – their new addition is actually a baby boy.
“Camila gave birth to our third child yesterday morning,” the 43-year-old star posted on WhoSay.com Saturday. “Our son Livingston Alves McConaughey was born at 7:43 am on 12.28.12. He greeted the world at 9lbs. and 21 inches.”
McConaughey went on to thank his fans for their well wishes, adding, “Happy New Year, and just keep livin’.”
Livingston, an old English name which means “dear friend's place," joins big brother Levi, 4, and sister Vida, who turns 3 next month. All three McConaughey siblings have their mother's maiden name, Alves, as their middle name.
It’s been an eventful year for the McConaugheys. Together since 2006, the “Dallas Buyers Club” star and the Brazilian model made their relationship official when they tied the knot in a ceremony at their sprawling Austin property on June 10. Levi and Vida served as ring bearer and flower girl in the wedding.
Less than a month later, the couple had another big announcement – baby No. 3 was on the way. "Happy birthday America, more good news," McConaughey tweeted on July 4. "Camila and I are expecting our 3rd child." The couple opted not to find out the gender of their baby with the actor noting it would be "a wonderful surprise" in the delivery room.
And a surprise it was, especially because reports on Friday afternoon stated that the couple had welcomed a daughter. Oops! Well, now we know the truth -- and offer our congratulations to the happy family, who will ring in the new year as a party of five.
