Knicks Star Amare Stoudemire and Wife Expecting Fourth Child

Team Stat is expanding!

New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire has announced that he and his new bride, Alexis, will be scoring big in 2013 – with a new addition. The couple, who has been together since 2002 but tied the knot in December, will welcome their fourth child this spring. “We are so blessed,” the 30-year-old NBA forward tweeted on Thursday.

Baby Stoudemire will join older siblings Ar’e, 7, Amar’e Jr., 6, and Assata, 4 – and, just a wild guess here, will probably be given a baby name that begins with the first letter of the alphabet.

Things are looking up for the basketball superstar, who had a rather turbulent year in 2012. In addition to injuries which kept him off the court, he was grieving the loss of his brother who died in a car accident. But the year ended on a positive note when he married his long-time girlfriend, whom he proposed to in Paris in June, in a small ceremony in Manhattan on 12-12-12.

“It was beautiful to have a private ceremony with close family and friends,” Stoudemire, who rejoined the Knicks this week, told People magazine of his nuptials. “I planned it. I wanted to have something that was more spiritual where we could really understand what being married means.” But that’s not the end of his wedding planning! The couple will hold another larger celebration this summer, which the sports star promises will be “a big, extravagant Cinderella wedding for Alexis.”
