Katy Perry learned the hard way that being fashionably late is not "in" this season.
The 29-year-old singer was nearly an hour late to Thursday night's Moschino show at Milan Fashion Week and punctual photographers and fashionistas who were waiting for the show to start were not amused.
John Mayer's lady love arrived at about 8:50 p.m. when the show was scheduled for 8 p.m. — and, that late in the day (it was the final show), patience had run thin. She posed on the runway before taking her seat, but the booing continued.
"The Dark Horse" singer didn't take to the jeers kindly and snapped at the shutterbugs. "You are all gonna get your picture," she said. "Shut the f--k up." In a YouTube video of the drama, she is seen making a throat-slitting gesture as she curses.
The unwelcome reception seemed to dampen her spirits. Perry appeared "pretty shaken up" and "upset" throughout the show, Us Weekly reported. However, photos showed her smiling as she sat next to Rita Ora in the front row to peep at designer Jeremy Scott's first collection for the label.
And in fairness to Perry, she wasn't the only one late. Ora, wearing a black dress with Moschino across the front in gold, arrived about 10 minutes earlier, at 8:40 p.m. The reception she was given from impatient photographers, who were holding their heavy equipment while they waited, was more playful hoots, not boos.
If Perry was upset by the negative reception, by the end of the presentation, she had overcome it. She went on to celebrate after the show with a group that included Scott and Ora, and in an Instagram photo of that, she was flashing her trademark KatyCat smile. She also tweeted that the show had left her feeling sunny and bright.
Sunny, bright … but also, perhaps, more aware of the importance of punctuality.
