John Molner, Katie Couric, and her engagement ring (Pacific Coast News)
Katie Couric might have been watching tennis, but she brought her very own ice rink — and, by ice rink, we mean her enormous engagement ring, of course.
On Wednesday, the bride-to-be flashed the gorgeous sparkler she received over Labor Day weekend as she and her new fiancé, John Molner, took in the night's U.S. Open matches at Arthur Ashe Stadium in the Billy Jean King National Tennis Center.
The sizeable, cushion-cut solitaire diamond held in a platinum (or white gold, but our money's on platinum) setting is simple yet stunning. It appears to be surrounded by tiny pave diamonds as well. People magazine described the bauble as a "spectacular" alongside the TV host's engagement announcement. They're not wrong.
Molner proposed to the 56-year-old TV host a few days ago by asking her to take a walk with him on the beach. Couric recalled that she was at first not in the mood to join him, but she was pleasantly surprised when her banker beau revealed his true intentions. Though she claims she didn't see the proposal coming, she certainly seems to have embraced the idea of walking down the aisle again since Molner popped the question.
Even with the matches going on, Molner couldn't take his eyes off his beaming bride-to-be as Couric cuddled up close in his arms. And while her diamond's debut was certainly a highlight of the night, Couric looked absolutely radiant as well, sporting an even better accessory than the sparkler: a beaming smile.
