What a difference a summer makes. Nearly three months after Paris Jackson was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital following her suicide attempt, the 15-year-old offspring of the late pop icon is on the road to recovery, according to her grandmother.

Katherine Jackson, the 83-year-old matriarch of the Jackson clan, shed some light on Paris's progress in the secluded facility where she has been receiving care.

"She is in a good place, getting the help she needs," Mrs. Jackson confirmed to Hello! "She is doing much better. The treatment is going good, really good."

In fact, as of last week, it seemed Paris was doing great at her private therapeutic boarding school in Utah, where she has been living (under the pseudonym "Frankie") since mid-July. Photos surfaced of the teen looking healthy and happy as she mugged for the camera, along with reports that she has been in "high spirits."

But that doesn't mean it's been easy for anyone involved, including Katherine. "She's my baby. It's hard for me, really hard. All I wanted these kids to be is happy."

Perhaps it was her own son's untimely death that contributed to her granddaughter's troubles. "The night Michael died Paris was crying and said 'I want to go and see Daddy, I don't want to be without him.'"

When Michael was alive, however, it wasn't always smooth sailing for Paris and her two brothers either. "They were sheltered a lot when Michael raised them," Katherine concedes before revealing that she decided to rear them differently. "I had thought about it and I said, 'I am not going to raise them like that (wearing masks).'" Still, she's the first to admit that Michael "had good reason" for some of his more eccentric parenting decisions. "He was trying to protect them," she mused.

Since Michael's death, Katherine has shared legal guardianship of all three children and has played a significant role in their upbringing. And while she probably knows Paris better than anyone, there are still many things that remain a mystery to her. "It's a different generation," she laments. "I don't understand the whole social media thing. They are always on their phones."

Hopefully Paris has taken a break from technology to focus on herself and is truly getting better as Katherine claims. We're sure that's what Michael would have wanted.
