Joe Manganiello has officially parted ways with ... his man fur.

Playing the brawny (and often bare!) werewolf Alcide on "True Blood," the 36-year-old adopted a signature look — a meticulously groomed salt-and-pepper colored beard. But when he stepped out at the 10th Annual Style Awards in New York City on Wednesday, he was totally fuzz free.

With his beard and stache history, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native was nearly unrecognizable as he struck a pose wearing a three-piece blue John Varvatos suit (without a shirt underneath) and a fringed scarf instead of a tie. However, it was hard to miss his big brown eyes, or the way he fills out his suit with his super muscular, "I work out twice a day" bod.

While it's only a beard, Manganiello has been all about his facial hair since he stepped into spotlight. He even gave an entire interview about it to Vulture — why he grew it, how he grooms it, and how he avoided looking like one of the members of ZZ Top.

An entire interview.

So why the clean-shaven look? It's role dictated, omg! has learned. Manganiello is playing Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire" at Yale Repertory Theatre this fall. But don't worry, "True Blood" fans — you'll have Alcide in all his follically-gifted glory when shooting resumes on the seventh and final season of "True Blood" next year.
