Jenna Bush Hager is a new mom! The member of the former first family gave birth to her first child at 8:43 p.m. on Saturday in New York City.

In a decidedly modern move, the "Today" show contributor's parents, George W. Bush and Laura Bush, broke the good news on Sunday via Facebook.

"Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura 'Mila' Hager," the proud grandfather shared. "Mila, daughter of Jenna and Henry Hager, is named for her grandmothers."

He added, "We met our beautiful granddaughter today. Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated."

We're sure they are. Back in a 2010 interview with AARP magazine, the former president revealed that he and his wife were ready for grandchildren.

"I'm a little disappointed it hasn't happened yet," he explained. "But the more disappointment I show, the less likely it is things are going to happen on the time table I want."

And now, a mere three years later, his wait is over. Though there's no word yet on whether he and the Mrs. approve of his new granddaughter's name — and nickname.

So what does an expert think?

"This is a great example of how even the most tradition-minded parents aren't willing to sacrifice style in baby names today," Laura Wattenberg, author of The Baby Name Wizard, tells omg!. "These parents took the classic path of honoring their own mothers with a namesake, but are planning to actually call their daughter by a completely different — and trendier — name."

"Mila is a Slavic nickname, short for names like Milena and Miloslava," Wattenberg continued. "Actress Milena 'Mila' Kunis made it familiar in the U.S., and it instantly caught on with parents. Mila is one of the fastest rising names in America and is part of a trend toward light, liquid names like Mia and Lila."

In other words, Jenna and Henry are off to a great start.
