And so ends the brief reign of blond James Franco.

Though the "Oz: The Great and Powerful" star enjoyed an international press tour with an orange-blond dye job, Franco returned to New York on Tuesday with his usual brown 'do.

Franco debuted the lighter locks on February 24 when he opened the Daytona 500 NASCAR race in Florida.

From there, he showed off his new hue at "Oz" promo stops in London and Moscow alongside costars Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz.

Dark-haired once again on Tuesday, Franco stopped by a Gucci and Cinema Society screening for the film at Manhattan's DGA theater with guests including Emmy Rossum, John Varvatos, Billy Zane, and director Lee Daniels.

While folks watched the movie, Franco dashed to the Crosby Hotel for a dinner with HSN and Disney, where he welcomed friend and muse Petra Nemcova (who starred in a short film he directed last fall for designer Stuart Weitzman). Additional dinner guests included model Iman, First-Lady-favored designer Naeem Khan, and Justin Theroux's ex, Heidi Bivens.

After a suit change, Franco hit restaurant Harlow for Gucci's after party with attendees Padma Lakshmi, Charlotte Ronson, and Stephen Baldwin.

Which Franco do you prefer? Light or dark? Let us know in the poll below.
