Scarlett Johansson’s movie credits may sound like a list of Hollywood’s greatest hits, but there’s one role she missed out on. The 28-year-old actress has revealed that she auditioned for the part of Fantine in “Les Miserables”… but was beat out by Anne Hathaway! Unfortunately for the starlet, she came down with a brutal case of laryngitis before her audition that ultimately stood between her and the film. In an interview with Broadway.com this week, the actress explained, “I auditioned with laryngitis. I did everything I could to, like, not have laryngitis.”
Hathaway has received rave reviews for her performance, but we have to wonder: Would ScarJo have made a better Fantine?
Check out the vid to hear what Scarlett had to say about the final casting choice and which other blockbuster role she didn’t get!
