Hot Athlete Romance Alert: Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn!
Say it ain’t so, Lindsey!
In what can only be acknowledged as one of the more questionable public dating choices in recent years, U.S. Women’s skiing Olympic gold medalist and multi World Cup champ Lindsey Vonn, 28, is reportedly dating golf superstar Tiger Woods, 37.
Woods, of course, is almost as well known for his philandering ways nowadays as his skills on the golf course, following the ugly end to his relationship with Elin Nordegren in 2010. The resemblance between Vonn and Nordegen is apparent – both are beautiful blondes with athletic builds.
Although neither of them nor their reps have confirmed the relationship, a source close to the skiing star confirmed to omg! that the pair are definitely together. omg!’s source also says that after her divorce from former ski coach, Thomas Vonn, was finalized in early January, she relocated from the ski town she has spent most of her time in recent years (mostly Park City, Utah, where she owns a home) to L.A., because she could keep a lower profile and people don’t recognize her as much.
HollywoodLife.com first reported the pairing two days ago. “They met through the ski community, because Tiger is an active skier,” a source close to Vonn revealed to the site. “Lindsey has been teaching Tiger’s kids Sam and Charlie how to ski.” The site claims that the couple has rendezvoused in both Austria in mid-January and in the Caribbean island of Antigua.
During the 2010 Winter Olympics, when Vonn was still married, Time magazine witnessed her happily join in with the rest of the world by poking fun at Woods following the staged press conference where he owned up to his cheating ways. When she heard some of the golfer’s friends gave him hugs following the confession, Vonn cracked, "They're like, 'Yeah, you're awesome, you go have that sex.' "
She went on to share her idea for a sketch she’d want to perform if ever asked to host “Saturday Night Live,” inspired by Woods’ infamous televised conference. "There's something you don't know about me," Vonn said at the time in phony apologetic voice, envisioning herself standing at a podium as Woods did. "Tiger, you're like my idol, and I too have a sex problem. That would be freaking funny,” she laughed.
Well, what’s really freaking funny is that she’s now romantically linked to Woods!
Us Weekly spoke to Vonn’s rep who told the mag, “Lindsey is currently in the midst of the World Cup season in Europe. Her focus is solely on competing and on defending her titles and thus she will not participate in any speculation surrounding her personal life at this time."
Uhhh… OK. That’s a publicist line if we’ve ever heard one.
