Golden Globes Parties: Pattinson, Gomez and Winners Celebrate
For a show turning 70, the Golden Globes can still get down.
Following Sunday’s Tina Fey and Amy Poehler-hosted broadcast, the crowd at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton dispersed from the grand ballroom and wreaked havoc in every corner of the famous venue. Given the show's mix of predictable winners and upsets, luminaries across the board scurried to their home networks or studio events, which guaranteed party-hopping as the night progressed.
Fey and Poehler headed up to NBC Universal’s fete to take what we can only imagine were excessive compliments, while the lobby of the Hilton was packed with A-listers making their rounds.
George Clooney, one of the evening’s biggest champs as producer on the Best Picture Drama winner “Argo,” entered InStyle magazine and Warner Bros. pictures’ post-event all smiles with girlfriend Stacey Keibler.
Across the lobby, double-winner Lena Dunham gathered her deep violet gown to brave the descent to HBO’s celebration. And the party was drenched in pink, from projected graphic clips to table liners.
Nestled outside the Hilton’s walls sat the Fox viewing and after party, constructed on the Robinsons-May parking structure. It lured the likes of Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Sofia Vergara, Helen Mirren and “American Horror Story” queen Jessica Lange.
Those names enjoyed schmoozing and snacking, but the Fox fete had one clear star in “Homeland.”
Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and the drama all came home with statuettes – and supporting star Mandy Patinkin got massive love from Fey and Poehler during the program. Lewis chatted up execs while Danes received many supporters, with Patinkin and the stunning Morena Baccarin close by.
Arguably the best event of the awards weekend, The Weinstein Company once again occupied the Hilton’s former Trader Vic’s space to embrace their nominees, winners and famous fans.
The goods: Yes, Robert Pattinson came. No, he didn't do much else but show up (kind of like his appearance on the show itself). Armed with his agent and a security guard, the fetching fella congratulated winners and spoke with Harvey Weinstein before bouncing.
A more interesting moment came with the attention-grabbing arrival of Selena Gomez, Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens and "Modern Family"'s Sarah Hyland. The "Hunger Games" male breakout was flanked by the girls upon entrance, and the carpet went wild at the sight of the group.
Leonardo DiCaprio, nominated in the supporting actor category, arrived early and was excited to hang with his "Django Unchained" co-stars, Jamie Foxx, Best Supporting Actor victor Christoph Waltz, Quentin Tarantino and Kerry Washington.
The bromance between DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, revealed in photos from the New Year, was certainly perpetuated. The two men chatted enthusiastically together and nodded to passing folks like Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba and Heidi Klum.
And though Globes Sunday is all about accolades, Cecil B. DeMille honoree Jodie Foster lived up to her captivating (and revealing) speech – her table was filled with friends, family and her children. The same group she extolled for raising and supporting her throughout her career.
Close to 1 a.m., the crowds thinned out, tiny bottles of Moet littered the halls of the Hilton, and high heels came off and cars crowded the valet. Who could complain? The night didn’t make it to 70 by overstaying its welcome.
