Elizabeth Banks: You’re Not a Mom Until You Have Two Kids

You’re not a mom if you only have one kid. At least, that’s the world of parenting according to “Hunger Games” star Elizabeth Banks.

The actress, 38, and her husband, Max Handelman, welcomed their second son, Magnus Mitchell, in November via gestational surrogate. Their eldest, Felix, is 22 months old. Since the big arrival, Banks’ perspective on motherhood has changed… drastically.

“You don’t realize how easy one [child] is until you have two,” she tells People. “Now I’m really a mom. Oh, I am a mom now! This is for serious – I am responsible for two people now.”

Needless to say, this is about to stir some serious rage (and rightfully so) from parents of only children. And it only gets worse when she goes on to describe her 10-day family vacation without the help of anyone but her husband. Gasp!

“[We] had no help, no nannies, no babysitters,” she says. “It was crazy. You forget how difficult it is to wake up in the middle of the night, how exhausting it is.”

Sleep deprivation wasn’t the only horrifyingly rough outcome from that big vacation. Oh, no. Banks also returned from the trip in need of a manicure.

“I lost all my nails,” she whines. “I did dishes and cleaned bottles for 10 days, so I lost all those nails.”

But she did learn how to play the world’s smallest violin, so at least there’s that.
