The Queen of Twerking has shed her Disney image (it's been nearly a year since she chopped off her hair and dyed it platinum blond) and transitioned into a different arena musically. But in between singing about drugs and partying, does she still think of herself as a role model?
"I don't think it matters how much skin you show or, you know, I have the mouth of a sailor. I keep it nice for TV but I don't think that makes someone a good or a bad person," Miley said during a recent interview with the BBC in London. "The way you treat people is what makes a good person and everyone's equal."
The 20-year-old singer elaborated: "I treat everyone the exact same. I hate when people treat me nicer than they treat other people because of who I am because that's so fake. I think that's what makes a good role model, is how you treat people."
Miley is currently promoting her single "We Can't Stop" over in Europe, and the hit maker defended her hard partying ways (for now, at least).
"I think people forget what it feels like to be 20," she said in another recent interview. "People just evolve and that's all that's happened to me. But people think a mad scientist somehow cooked up this potion and turned me in to a different human, which it wasn't. All I did was get a haircut and buy some clothes and everyone thinks that I am made into a robot that changes with what's popular every 10 years."
"That's why I think some people kind of fall off and they end up going crazy because you don't give yourself time to go crazy," she continued. "That's what you're supposed to do; you are 20, you are supposed to be a mess because you haven't figured it out yet, and 10 years from now I am supposed to have it all together."
Demi Lovato -- who went to rehab in 2010 for undisclosed reasons -- revealed last week that she has checked in with her Disney pal about her whole "partying thing."
"I love her to death and I'm always like, 'Just be careful' and she's like, 'Dude, I'm chilling. It's fine,'" Lovato told MTV News. "But I care for her so much that I'm so protective, but she's good. She's got a good head on her shoulders."
