Christina Hendricks did not set out to spend her life working alongside beautiful men like as Ryan Gosling and Jon Hamm. Really.

"I just thought I would work in a hair salon and do community theater," the 38-year-old "Mad Men" actress reveals to Lucky Magazine.

After working as a model in NYC, Hendricks decided to go for it, and now stars in the critically acclaimed TV show, in addition to movies, such as the 2014 thriller "How to Catch a Monster," written and directed by her "Drive" co-star Ryan Gosling. Lucky girl!

Hendricks, who married "(500) Days of Summer" actor Geoffrey Arend in October 2009, acknowledges that Gosling is "handsome." However, she says his appeal is deeper.

"People respond to him strongly because he's so nice and so talented," she explains.

Much like her “Mad Men” character, Joan, Hendricks says all the right things, but she's much kinder than her character, the interviewer notes.

The exception is any time that a salesperson suggests that the busty beauty try on a garment without structure that doesn’t exactly work with a bra.

"I want to say, 'Excuse me, but are we standing in the same store?'" she notes, adding that some designers are better at this than others.

[How to Get 'Mad Men' Hair at Home]

"Christian Siriano makes his dresses that way," she says. "It makes me feel so taken care of."

Hendricks appreciates a well-made frock, not just for the sake of comfort, but also because she adores fashion.

"Getting to wear beautiful fashion is the most fun part of the job that has nothing to do with the job," she raves.

The curvy star also differs from Joan in that she occasionally wears pants -- although she never, ever wears sweatpants around the house.

"I can't do that to my husband, not after just three years of marriage," she shares. "At home, I put on a low-cut caftan, and he's like, 'Babe, you look great.' Caftans are just the perfect solution to what to wear at home. I love Camilla Franks', but I also get great vintage ones on eBay."

Now that sounds precisely like something Joan would say … if only eBay had existed in the '60s.
