Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle mused about doing a comedy tour together during Chappelle’s set at New York City’s Comedy Cellar early Wednesday morning … and fans are hoping it was not just part of the act.
Rock, 48, hopped up onstage to banter with Chappelle – who has been testing out new material over the course of a few nights at the comedy club – and the two had sides splitting for an hour over a range of topics, including President Obama, Prince, and even fellow comedian Seth McFarlane’s recent Oscars hosting gig. Chappelle has been mostly off the radar since abruptly ending his “Chappelle Show” on Comedy Central in 2005.
At one point, Chappelle, 39, convinced Rock to text pal Jay-Z … even though it was 1:30 a.m. at that point. When the rapper didn’t reply, the two then called both Arsenio Hall and Lenny Kravitz and left voice messages, according to The Comic’s Comic website.
“Come out to Oakland," Chappelle told Rock. "You should come down to West Palm," Rock replied. “After next Tuesday, I'm free for like 11 years,” joked Chappelle. Rock then said his schedule from spring to summer was busy because he has a new movie to film and cut. So, "I've got time between now and the movie,” or, he suggested, "By Halloween, I could do dates."
So, does this mean we can expect to see the two comedic heavyweights soon in a city near us? It’s unclear as of now. Reps for both Rock and Chappelle did not immediately respond to omg!’s request for a comment.
Would you be excited to see the two on tour?
