Several of those voices came from the world of country music. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton live in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, and while they were traveling when the twister hit, their hearts were home with their neighbors.
"Just landed in LA and hearing about all the tornados in Oklahoma right now... Get somewhere safe!!!" Shelton tweeted on Monday.
Soon after, Lambert, who was on the road in Denver, Colorado, shared her thoughts as well. "Pray. That's all we [can] do. Pray for peace for Oklahoma," she wrote.
Trisha Yearwood also lives in the Sooner State with her husband, Garth Brooks, and sent prayers and a virtual hug to her neighbors, especially those in the city of Moore, which was especially devastated as the storm widened to two miles as it passed through the area and destroyed a school.
"#PrayForOklahoma. Pray for everyone devastated by these storms, but especially for those families in Moore, OK right now...God, wrap your arms around this community," Yearwood posted.
Toby Keith was especially emotional, having grown up in the area.
"This storm has devastated the community that I grew up in," he tweeted. "I rode my bike through those neighborhoods. I have family and friends in Moore. My heart and prayers go to those that have lost so much. But Moore is strong and we will persevere. God be with you all."
And Reba McEntire, who was born in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, also spoke out, writing, "All my prayers go out to the folks in Oklahoma dealing with these tornados. Stay safe everyone!!!!"
