  • Rita Wilson Returns to Broadway Just Weeks After Cancer Diagnosis

    Robert Kessler at Yahoo Celebrity 2 hrs ago

    In March, Rita Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer. In April, she underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. In May, Rita Wilson was back on Broadway. *Mic drop.*

    After Wilson's diagnosis, the 58-year-old announced that she'd be taking a short leave of absence from Fish in the Dark , in which she was starring opposite Larry David. As it turns out, "short" was the operative word there. On Tuesday night, Mrs. Tom Hanks made her return to the Great White Way.

    .@FishInTheDark So happy to be back on Bway with my theater family tonight!

    Wilson, who went public about her battle with cancer a week after her mastectomy in April, tweeted thanks for the outpouring of support as she recuperated.

    "I am overwhelmed with gratitude by your prayers and good wishes and the kindness you're sending," she wrote. "Thank you. Thank you."

    Mallory Schlossberg at Yahoo Celebrity 2 hrs ago

But while celebs aplenty strutted down the red carpet, breaking the no-selfie rulewhile awaiting their inevitable memes to be made, one green juice-swilling red carpet staple was missing: Gwyneth Paltrow. So where was she?

  • Ashton Kutcher Remodels His Mom's Home as a Mother's Day Surprise

    Robert Kessler at Yahoo Celebrity 3 hrs ago

    Rather than chocolates or flowers or some mass-produced card from CVS, Ashton Kutcher opted for a more personal gift this Mother's Day: renovating the basement of her home in Iowa. And, hell, if the remodel also garners a little publicity for one of Kutcher's investments, it's just a happy coincidence. There ain't nothing wrong with a little hustle.

    "It's my way of saying thank you to my mom," Kutcher says of the remodel, which he organized using Houzz, a home remodel startup website for which he — you guessed it —is an investor. "My mom has been the greatest influence in my life."

    Kutcher says that he and his stepfather Mark built the Homestead, Iowa, home when he was 13 years old, and his parents still live there today. The main goal of the renovation is to turn the basement into a much warmer space. "If I could make this space special and make it a space for my mom ... and just really make it beautiful for her, that would be fulfilling," he explains.

  • Charlize Theron: Working With Sean Penn Was Complicated and Hard

    Taryn Ryder at Yahoo Celebrity 16 hrs ago

    There's no doubt that Charlize Theron is madly in love with her "hot" boyfriend (or maybe fiancé) Sean Penn, but like any couple it's not always smooth sailing.

    In the June issue of Elle U.K. the Mad Max: Fury Road star admits that working alongside Penn, 54, on the film The Last Face proved to be difficult at times.

    "Putting aside that he's my partner, he's the love of my life; for the first time, I felt that my work was really bleeding into my life and that made it hard," she explained. Penn directs the upcoming drama, which stars Theron, 39, and Javier Bardem and was shot Africa last year.

    That was all clearly just a bump in the road. A few weeks ago Charlize gushed that she's a " very, very, very lucky girl. Very lucky."

  • Tiger Woods Says He Hasn't Slept Since Lindsey Vonn Split

    Taryn Ryder at Yahoo Celebrity 18 hrs ago

    Woods, 39, talked to reporters Tuesday ahead of this week's Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Florida and admitted to not being in the best place mentally.

    "Obviously, it does affect me. It is tough. There's no doubt. I'm not going to lie about that. It is tough," an emotional Woods responded when asked if his personal life affected his game out on the course.

    The 30-year-old ski racer and Woods announced on May 3 that they were ending their relationship after three years together. Sunday also happened to be the ninth anniversary of the death of Tiger's father, Earl, who was his best friend and mentor.

    "This three-day window is really hard," Woods added. "I haven't slept. These three days, May 3 through the 5th, is just brutal on me. And then with obviously what happened on Sunday, it just adds to it."

    This past weekend Woods revealed on his website he and Lindsey " mutually decided to stop dating."

  • Joss Whedon, Jaden Smith and the 5 Most Legit Reasons Stars Quit Twitter

    Joal Ryan at Yahoo Celebrity 18 hrs ago

    When Joss Whedon exited Twitter Monday apparently because of some deranged carping over his superhero sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the filmmaker not only became the latest bold-faced name to quit the social-media site, he became the latest to do so for a pretty damn-straight good reason.

    Here are top five most legit concerns that have turned stars off Twitter:

    1. It's a den of harassment and abuse.

    Actress Zelda Williams took a break from Twitter on the day her father, Robin Williams, committed suicide — not because of the family tragedy, but because two users sent her links to faked death images of the iconic comic.

    "I feel sick. Bye Twitter," the wife of singer John Legend wrote. "Taking my talents to Instagram."

    Whedon's name can be added to this list if a tweet by fellow Marvel director James Gunn ( Guardians of the Galaxy ) is any tip-off.

  • Bruce Jenner, Justin Bieber, Harrison Ford and the Economics of the Celeb Autograph Market

    Joal Ryan at Yahoo Celebrity 19 hrs ago

    Bruce Jenner is trending (but not always selling). Justin Bieber is huge (if the cause is right). Harrison Ford is just plain hard to get.

    If ever there was a volatile market, it's celebrity memorabilia. Some days you're hot — as Jenner Wheaties boxes reportedly were in the wake of the Diane Sawyer interview about his gender transition. Some days you're cold—as a signed football by Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was at a Chicago auction this spring.

    And some days you're just — well, you don't know what you are. Sure, maybe a seller thought he or she could move a Miley Cyrus autographed color print for $500 on eBay, but the listing closed with no takers.

    "Major movie stars and major rock stars fetch more than anybody," Maddalena says.

    As far as a driver of value goes, perhaps nothing beats scarcity.

  • Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Kendall Jenner Hit Same Met Gala Afterparty

    Taryn Ryder at Yahoo Celebrity 21 hrs ago

    Bieber attended Rihanna's afterparty at Up & Down in the West Village and, according to guests, he was the life of the bash. "It seemed like everyone wanted to be at his table," a source tells Yahoo. "And he was hardly hurting for female company."

    Justin's most famous ex, Selena Gomez, was in attendance, as were all of the ladies the Biebs has most recently been linked to: Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin, and model Shanina Shaik (who was Bieber's date for the aforementioned boxing match Saturday). So which gal did he spend his time with? Well, all of them.

    "Justin and Selena said hello and talked briefly, but it looked like it was just a friendly exchange," says the partygoer, adding that Gomez stuck close to gal-pal Lily Collins. "[Justin] and Kendall hung out together and danced with a group of friends for a while."

    As for who was really on Justin's mind all night, he may have given a clue early on. On the way out of the main event, he told TMZ, "Yo, Selena looked gorgeous at the Met Ball."

    Your move, Selena.

  • Taylor Swift's Mom Attends 1989 World Tour Launch in Tokyo Despite Cancer Diagnosis

    Robert Kessler at Yahoo Celebrity 23 hrs ago

    Taylor Swift kicked off her 1989 World Tour Tuesday in Tokyo and among the thousands of fans in attendance was her biggest one: her mother.

    Despite having recently been diagnosed with cancer, Swift's mother Andrea Finlay was photographed arriving at Tokyo's Narita International Airport alongside Taylor's father Scott. During the concert, several fan accounts posted photos of Andrea and Scott inside the arena.

    Swift's parents are usually a staple at her tours, but in April, when Taylor wrote about her mother's cancer diagnosis, she warned fans that her mom wouldn't be at as many of her shows as usual, due to her illness.

    "She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour," Swift wrote of her mother. "She’s got an important battle to fight."

  • Kevin Bacon Looks Crazy Unrecognizable in This Photo

    Mallory Schlossberg at Yahoo Celebrity 1 day ago

    What's up with Kevin Bacon's face? The actor shared a crazy unrecognizable photo on Twitter, sending his fans and followers into a tizzy.

    The photo was matched with a (relatively) non-descript caption: "Greetings from the UK!"

    The actor didn't comment on the obvious and jarring difference in his face. For the record, only back in late February, it looked like this:

    Bacon, 56, has maintained a relatively lean appearance for the duration of his career, so the sudden and drastic change understandably prompted his fans to express their shock and concern. Some took to Twitter and made the requisite Bacon jokes:

    @kevinbacon you need to stay off the bacon and maybe be Kevin salad for a change

    @kevinbacon Kevin Extra Bacon.

    @kevinbacon too much Bacon?

    Others were simply confounded.

    @kevinbacon Wait, what?

    @kevinbacon WHAT IS THIS?
