The summer of the breakup claims another casualty. Avril Lavigne announced on Instagram Wednesday that she and Nickelback groaner Chad Kroeger are splitting up after a little more than two years of marriage.

"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," Lavigne wrote with a photo from the couple's wedding day in July 2013. "Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. • Venus Williams Gets a Business Degree from Indiana University

Robert Kessler at Yahoo Celebrity 6 hrs ago

There is nothing a Williams sister cannot do. Shatter racial barriers in one of the most traditionally segregated sports? Done. Found and maintain several businesses while remaining in peak physical form? Done. Graduate from college while preparing for the US Open? Done and done.

Venus Williams graduated last month from Indiana University East with a Bachelors in Business Administration. It's her second college degree, after she earned an Associates from the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale in 2007.

Williams, 35, did not previously have a lot of time for college, as she made her professional tennis debut at the age of 14. In the years since, she has won seven Grand Slam titles, as well as serving as CEO of her interior design firm V Starr Interiors and creating a fashion line called EleVen. Williams also owns a couple Jamba Juice francises. So a business degree is certainly going to come in handy.

The newsman's beloved Welsh springer spaniel, Molly, died on Tuesday. He shared the news on Instagram along with a photo tribute to the 11-year-old pooch, which he referred as his "sweet dog."

Cooper, who is cuddling up to his the brown-and-white fur ball in the photo, was often seen with Molly around New York City. She also appeared on his daytime talk show, Anderson , making her debut in 2011. The canine was a little nervous for her big moment and nervously nuzzled her owner's leg.

In June, Cooper and Molly again appeared on the small screen during a segment he did for 60 Minutes in June on whether dogs really love their humans.

"I'm a total dog person," the 48-year-old reporter said during the report, which was inspired by his pet. "I just really love dogs. I like other people's dogs. I like dogs of all kinds. Pit bulls — I actually love pit bulls."

    And very, very special.

  • Hilary and Haylie Duff Are Over Your Mommy Judgment

Carly Milne at Yahoo Celebrity 19 hrs ago

Ask Hilary and Haylie Duff what it's like being sisters, and they'll paint a pretty idyllic picture for you.

They've always been incredibly supportive of one another, but the closeness that they share came in particularly handy when they became first-time moms.

"No one really understands what being a mom is like until they go through it themselves," Hilary, who has a 3-year-old son, explains to Yahoo Celebrity. "Even watching from the outside, Haylie was always very supportive… So it's been a really cool time for us to be really good to one another."

If only the online world, which often shames new parents into feeling inadequate for the choices they make in their child's infancy, was as encouraging.

That's why the Duff sisters have teamed up to take on the world of mommy judgment. While speaking to Yahoo about their Sister of Motherhood campaign, the duo also took time out to reflect on their relationship, as well as how they handle online bullies.

Raechal Leone Shewfelt at Yahoo Celebrity 20 hrs ago

Meet the pig who's stolen Kermit the Frog's heart.

After the "Rainbow Connection" singer and his longtime love Miss Piggy announced in early August that they had ended their 40-year relationship, Kermit revealed that there was a new someone special in his life named Denise. (The amphibian didn't waste any time getting back into the dating game!)

Now, the first photos of Denise have been released, and we can't help but notice that she shares some physical traits with Miss Piggy — Kermit has admitted that he has a thing for curly tails — although his new gal, um, swine looks a lot younger and a lot more Hollywood. (No word yet on whether Denise has had any work done.)

Kermit shared a couple of details about his gal pal in a recent tweet.

.@emmyrossum Hi-ho, Emmy! Unfortunately, I'm seeing someone else... Denise. She's in publicity at the network. She's sweet, you'd like her!

Do you think Kermit and Miss Piggy are done for good?

  • 50 Cent Says He's Performing at the Super Bowl

Robert Kessler at Yahoo Celebrity 22 hrs ago

On Instagram Tuesday, 50 Cent made (maybe) a big announcement: He's performing at the Super Bowl. Maybe. Or maybe not.

In his post, 50 writes, "Super Bowl 50 is mine, every party is mine. Don't miss it. LMAO WE ARE GONNA TURN UP FOR REAL!!!!"

You'll note that he doesn't specifically mention the halftime show, and there are numerous parties surrounding the Super Bowl to which 50 could be referring.

So is 50 Cent headlining the halftime show at Super Bowl 50? Let's investigate together. (The NFL did not respond to Yahoo's request for comment.)

The announcement: Katy Perry was not officially confirmed as the halftime performer at Super Bowl 49 until late November and Beyoncé was announced the October before she did the honors at Super Bowl 47. However, between them, the NFL announced that Bruno Mars would be halftime entertainment at Super Bowl 48 on September 8, so it's not exactly unprecedented to have an announcement this early.

  • Kelly Bensimon Left $50K Worth of Jewelry in a Car and Guess What Happened Next

Suzy Byrne at Yahoo Celebrity 1 day ago

Kelly Bensimon's recent jaunt to Martha's Vineyard wasn't all sailing trips and sunbathing. The one-time star of The Real Housewives of New York is out $50,000 worth of designer jewelry after a bag containing the baubles went missing from a parked car on the Massachusetts island last Wednesday.

The 47-year-old former model was on the island for a two-day business trip, she told local newspaper the Martha's Vineyard Times. While on a sailing charter with an investor, whom she declined to name, discussing unspecified business ventures in financial technology, the brunette's canvas Black Dog bag containing the jewelry — including pieces from Cartier, Hermès, and a Mauboussin diamond ring — disappeared. Other items in the black 2010 Cadillac Escalade, including a Louis Vuitton bag and a computer, weren't touched.

Guess who had a better trip to the island this summer? The Obamas. Their annual trip to the summer playground ended just one day before Bensimon arrived.

The Being Mary Jane actress, 42, and her NBA star husband, 33, who tied the knot on Aug. 30, 2014, marked the occasion during a "surprise anniversary vacation," planned by Wade, in Bora Bora. The Wades splashed around on jet skis, cuddled up on the beach, and showed off their incredible beach bodies.

    Did we say incredible ?

Union, who had a long road to the altar with Wade, also seemed to be addressing some of her haters in the caption of a photo showing her fearlessly plunging into bright blue waters.

It will definitely be hard to top.

  • Ellen Page on Playing a Lesbian in 'Freeheld': 'Dude Just Tell People You're Gay'

Robert Kessler at Yahoo Celebrity 1 day ago

In advance of the release of Freeheld , in which Ellen Page and Julianne Moore play real-life couple Stacie Andree and Laurel Hester, respectively, the pair covers Out magazine. Page speaks to how taking on the role encouraged her to come out herself, which she did in a rousing speech in 2014.

"I remember thinking, Ellen, how in God’s name could you make this film and not be out? What’s interesting to me is how long it took to make the movie — for it to finally come together — and how my internal progression toward coming out was naturally in line with it," Page tells Out . "Stacie and Laurel’s story is incredibly inspiring. It made me go, Dude, just tell people you’re gay. Just get over yourself, honestly, and support those who are not as privileged. It’s like, You have f--king privilege, so do something with it ."

Freeheld chronicles Andree and Hester's fight, as Hester was dying of lung cancer, to pass her pension benefits on to Andree, her legal domestic partner.

  • One Direction Enlists Fan Support for 'Dear World Leaders' Plea

    Yahoo Celebrity 1 day ago

With only approximately 200 days until One Direction's hiatus — which they promise is just a break but, like, we know how that goes — they are making the best of their time. They're sending a message to the leaders of the world: We are here , they are saying. This is what we want. #BuyDragMeDownOniTunes .

In the video called "Dear World Leaders," fans of One Direction worldwide speak the change they want to see in the world, including universal education, clean drinking water, energy conservation.

The boys of 1D are only present for the beginning of the video; Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson do the talking; Niall Horan's speaking priviledges must have been revoked as the last time he opened his pretty little mouth he spilled the beans on the band's big B-R-E-A-K.

The video, which will be shown on all remaining stops of the band's current tour, is part of the action/1D campaign, itself a part of action/2015, a citizens' movement aimed at making this year the one to begin the process of ending extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change.
