Angelina Jolie Turns Kids' Choice Awards Into Girls' Night Out With Daughters Shiloh and Zahara

Angelina Jolie knows how to party... with her kids, that is.

The mother of six spent her Saturday night at the Kids' Choice Awards at the Forum in Los Angeles with her daughters Zahara, 10, and Shiloh, 8, in tow. Jolie was nominated for Favorite Movie Actress as well as Favorite Villain (for her work in Maleficent). Though her youngest daughter, Vivienne, acted opposite her mother as the young Aurora in the Disney flick, she didn't get to take part in the festivities. For what it'sworth, though, Shiloh and Zahara didn't seem all that concerned that their little sister wasn't there.

Dressed casually for the event, Zahara and Shiloh were all smiles during the show. For her part, Angelina also appeared to be having a wonderful time, though she opted for a slinky black dress and sky-high stilettos — not that we'd expect anything less.

The 39-year-old star lost Favorite Movie Actress early on to Emma Stone, but made up for it later in the evening when she received the orange blimp for Favorite Villain. When Angelina's name was called, Shiloh and Zahara's faces lit up and they each hugged their mom before sending her up to the stage where she gave an empowering speech to the young audience.

"Thank you so much to all the kids who voted. I want to say that when I was little, like Maleficent, I was told that I was different and I felt out of place and too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in," Jolie began. "And then one day I realized something, something I hope you all realize: Different is good. So, don't fit in. Don't sit still. Don't ever try to be less than what you are and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud." Amidst cheers, Jolie had one final thought to add.

"And, as your villain, I would also say, cause a little trouble; it's good for you!" she urged with a somewhat mischievous smile. If only she had gotten slimed.

This girls' night out marked the first public appearance for the actress since she revealed that she had undergone surgery to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed when her doctor detected possible signs of early cancer. (Thankfully, it turned out that the test results were negative but because of her family history with the disease, Jolie decided to move forward with the procedure anyway.) Jolie still admitted, however, that the surgery was not a catchall solution.

"The fact is I remain prone to cancer," she conceded in her op-ed in the New York Times just four days ago. Still, she insisted she feels "grounded" in the choices she is making for herself and her family." No doubt she will have more choices to make down the road, but tonight she chose to bring two of her best girls to the Kids' Choice Awards where she received a huge honor — and we're pretty sure that won't be an experience they forget anytime soon.
