Andy Samberg had quite the big night on Sunday, taking home a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy and Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine." While one would expect the funnyman to celebrate in a lavish way, it turns out that wasn't actually the case.
"I got started by doing a ton of press,” the actor revealed to “The Insider” correspondent Keltie Knight at the FOX TCA's Monday night. "We started drinking on camera because we were like, 'We’ve got to get this going.' And then I went to a couple parties. It was really fun.”
But while some actors were able to to take the next day off, the cast of the award-winning comedy didn’t get that luxury. In fact, he has been so busy since his win, he hasn’t even had time to call back well-wishing friends and family members!
“I still haven’t called anyone. I have, like, 250 calls, texts, and emails on my phone. We shot at 7 a.m. this morning and I went home at 4,” he said. “I’m running on fumes, and I definitely owe some people returns."
While the entire cast is celebrating their big win, Samberg's co-stars are extra excited he was recognized as best actor.
“I am so happy for Andy,” Chelsea Peretti, who plays Gina Linetti on the series, said. “We went to elementary school together and we have little sixth grade graduation photos. We were in the school play ‘Annie’ together. So ... I was tearing up at the table. Melissa [Fumero] was crying and that got me going. It was an emotional night for sure."
Fumero 'fessed up to the tears.
"We were all crying at the table," she said. "[We were] so proud. He worked so hard. He’s so creative. I just got so emotional."
