Amanda Bynes Leaves Psychiatric Treatment Facility, Is Spotted Wandering Around L.A.
Amanda Bynes has been released from a psychiatric treatment facility.
Just days after a judge ruled to extend her involuntary commitment for at least another 30 days, the troubled 28-year-old was photographed walking around Los Angeles by herself on Thursday night.
TMZ obtained the photos of Bynes, who was wearing a dark coat and sunglasses, "roaming the Sunset Strip." The website said she was searching for a place to stay, but was turned down by several hotels. She then went to a diner, ordered a feast of food, and sat at a table where she was "talking to herself."
Yahoo has reached out to an attorney for the Hairspray star's mother, Lynn Bynes, but so far she hasn't commented on Amanda's release. However, Amanda has - on Twitter.
First, she lashed out at her mother's attorney for speaking out about her, but quickly deleted the post. Then she wrote a series of tweets saying that she is working with her own attorney to end the conservatorship.
Bynes also again claimed that her father sexually abused her, writing, "The police filed a report against my dad - I am not able to be in the same room with him. He is a sexual predator and he SHOULD BE IN JAIL." She also alleged that her parents stole money from her, posting, "They are lying about stealing money from me and i cannot continue to allow them to abuse me any more!"
According to TMZ, Bynes contested her involuntary treatment and, because she is back on her medication and lucid, was released from the facility. However, it was against her doctor's wishes.
It seems likely it was against her mother's wishes as well. Earlier this week, Lynn was again granted a conservatorship over her daughter's affairs after revealing in court documents that Amanda had engaged in erratic behavior, including spending a shocking amount of money on gifts for complete strangers.
While the temporary conservatorship is in place until February, it only gives Lynn control over her daughter's medical and financial decisions. According to People magazine, Amanda is allowed to make her own decisions regarding her psychiatric treatment and it has left her friends "worried."
Bynes was put back into treatment by her parents on Oct. 10 after another bizarre series of events. In addition to being accused of shoplifting and getting kicked out of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, she publicly accused her father of sexually abusing her as a child, then recanted her story, saying that a microchip in her brain ordered her to say those things.
This wasn't Bynes's first stay in a psychiatric facility. In 2013, she had a similar public meltdown, which culminated in her setting a fire in a stranger's driveway.
