Jennie Garth is the newest columnist for coupon website The Real Deal by RetailMeNot and the 41-year-old is opening up about being “a little less fancy and a lot more down to earth” than Kelly Taylor, the spoiled character she played on “Beverly Hills, 90210” throughout the ‘90s.
The blond beauty also revealed how growing up in a small town in Illinois with five siblings influenced her view of finances. "We grew much of our own food, and I can still remember flipping through the tattered pages of my mom’s favorite cookbook, about feeding a family on $12 a week.” The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant continued, “We weren’t excessive spenders, and we never took fancy vacations. If my dad brought home a new used car that was a big deal to us.”
And it seems like those frugal beginnings have helped shape the way the now single mom of three (who split from husband Peter Facinelli last year) spends her money today. “When you’re a single parent, finding a bargain becomes less of a nicety and more of a necessity,” she wrote. “That’s why, whether I’m ordering books on Amazon, clothes for my girls at Forever 21 or just random stuff at CVS, I try to shop smart.”
But that’s not all this hot mama had to said! Check out the vid to hear Jennie insist she’s nothing like Kelly Taylor!
