Channing Tatum vs. Mark Wahlberg: Battle of the Abs

They're both in new summer movies that opened over the weekend, and they're both hunks. Thus, it's an excuse to have a battle of the tanned and toned torsos between "Magic Mike" star Channing Tatum and "Ted" actor Mark Wahlberg. Why? Well, it's a chance to post pics of shirtless male stars and talk about them. Here we go …

Channing Tatum

Age: 32

The music video that first debuted those abs: Blink and you'll miss it, but Tatum was actually a background dancer in Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" video back in 2000. (Fast forward to 2:58 to check him out here.)

His most famous abs moment to date: Take your pick from various performance scenes in the campy new film "Magic Mike," in which Tatum reveals his abs — and plenty else — playing a male stripper. Incidentally, the movie was based, in part, on his real-life experience as a stripper in Tampa, Florida.

What he does to keep his bod looking ripped: Tatum went on a strict dairy-free and gluten-free diet and worked out three hours every day to prep for "Magic Mike," but the diet and exercise requirements weren't nearly as bad as another obligation he had to partake in for the role: getting waxed. "It was the most painful thing I'll ever do," he recently told People. "And it's something I'll never do again."

Who gets to sleep next to those abs every night: His wife of three years, actress Jenna Dewan, whom he met on the set of their film "Step Up" in 2006.

Mark Wahlberg

Age: 41

The music video which first debuted those abs: Wahlberg first rose to fame as singer Marky Mark, who, along with his Funky Bunch, showed off his chiseled chest, stomach, and biceps in a ridiculously cheesy video for his 1991 No. 1 hit song "Good Vibrations."

His most famous abs moment to date: That iconic Calvin Klein underwear campaign, featuring Wahlberg wearing nothing but white briefs and a smile, which was splashed across magazines and billboards, including a larger-than-life one in New York's Times Square.

What he does to keep his bod looking ripped: "My boxing trainer and athletic trainer would put me through three hours of work in the morning before a 12-hour day on the set," he once told ESPN about how he got in especially strong shape for "The Fighter," the 2010 film in which he played pro boxer Micky Ward. "Closer to shooting this film, it was an eight-mile run in the morning, breakfast, 30 rounds in the ring with fighters, another 15 rounds of work, jumping rope, lunch, full-court basketball, core training, and then additional work on choreography. I was in the gym eight to nine hours a day." See? It's easy!

Who gets to sleep next to those abs every night: His wife of three years, former model Rhea Durham, with whom he has four children.

So who do you think wins the abs faceoff? The former underwear model or one-time stripper?
