The bad news is a 19-year-old male was arrested for drunken driving in Miami Beach, Florida, on Thursday. The good news is the 19-year-old male was Justin Bieber.
For all the downsides there may be to growing up in the spotlight as a teen idol or child performer, there are plenty of upsides, too. For one thing, the numbers are definitely in your favor. If the day of the Bieber incident was an average day in the United States, then, per federal government data, there were about 3,300 DUI arrests nationwide. Of those, approximately 3,299, or 99.997 percent, did not involve Grammy-nominated prodigies.

Hollywood lacks for ghost stories and legends the way it lacks for superhero movies and sequels: There's the strange case of the John Belushi-haunted Chateau Marmont. There's the strange case of the Rudolph Valentino-haunted Hollywood Forever Cemetery. There's the strange (and sad) case of the suicidal-starlet-haunted Hollywood sign. And then there's Hollywood Boulevard.

Miley Cyrus's status at the record label of her biggest pop successes was "unclear." Her partnership with her longtime manager was over. Her "edgy" indie film was dumped in theaters. The Hollywood Reporter described her as a "once-budding superstar."
That was one year ago.
Cyrus was 19, past her big-money days on the "Hannah Montana" circuit and this close to living our cruelest, if not oldest pop-culture narrative: Child star grows up, career flames out.
But it didn't happen.

President Obama has weighed in on Syria, and now Alyssa Milano has, too.
The star of the ABC summer series "Mistresses" helps explain the roots of the international hot topic in her new Funny or Die video, "Alyssa Milano Sex Tape." The title and the video's initial suggestive moments lure the viewers in but then in perhaps the cruelest bait and switch in Internet history, hits pruriently motivated visitors with a current affairs lesson.
Posted Wednesday, the clip details the sectarian violence that has ripped apart the Middle East country, notes the chemical weapon attack allegedly launched by President Bashar al-Assad's government forces against Sunni rebels, and outlines Obama's stated intention to punish the al-Assad regime with a targeted attack.
It all goes down at the 52-second mark. Just keep your eyes on the TV anchor on the left of the screen.
As the clip went viral, Milano, 40, seemed to determine to downplay her role as educator.

Yes, James Lipton, the erudite host of "Inside the Actors Studio," used to be a pimp, and, no, you couldn't have seen that one coming.
Lipton dropped the bombshell during an interview with Parade earlier this week.
"It was only a few years after the war. Paris was different then, still poor," he explained in his typical thesaurus-friendly manner. "It was perfectly respectable for them to go into le milieu.
"There was no opprobrium because it was completely regulated. Every week they had to be inspected medically. The great bordellos were still flourishing in those days before the sheriff of Paris, a woman, closed them down. It was a different time."
And Lipton sparked to the role.
"I did a roaring business," he said. "I was going through my rites of passage, no question about it. It was a great year of my life."
However, in a new interview Thursday with "CBS This Morning," Lipton went to pains to say he wasn't a pimp in the traditional, contemporary sense of the term.
