These days there is no shortage of fashion-forward women on TV. Here are our favorites of the last five decades -- from iconic characters like Emma Peel to real-life fashionista Lauren Conrad -- who've inspired us to look our best.

"Gossip Girl" fashion isn't all about the designer labels (although it's A LOT about the designer labels). The show takes the image of the naughty schoolgirl to a whole new level. If we'd hemmed our St. Francis of Assisi uniforms as high as Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) does, the nuns would have sent us home with a note to our mothers.
Lauren Conrad on "The Hills"
The star of "The Hills" is a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. She's made headbands chic again and even has her own clothing line... What?... Oh, until a few days ago, she had her own clothing line. But in light of the current economic climate, Lauren says she's stopped shipments in order to "rethink her line." Could she be going the SJP route to make more affordable clothes for the everyday woman? No, according to her rep, she's going with high-end fabrics for a couture line. What will Lo and Audrina wear?
The Women of "Sex and the City"
The "Sex and the City" gals had fashion styles as distinct as their personalities. Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) was the risk-taker, game for anything. Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) was bold, sexy, and confident. Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) brought a chic flair to conventional office clothes. And Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) telegraphed her romantic nature even while always maintaining a conservative Park Avenue look.
