Mario Lopez responds to ‘X Factor’ rumors

Mario Lopez already has several jobs — he hosts the TV shows "Extra" and "America's Best Dance Crew" as well as "On With Mario Lopez," a nationally-syndicated nightly radio program, and even acts on occasion. According to TMZ, he's about to be adding another gig to the list: co-host of "The X Factor." Lopez and reality star Khloe Kardashian are reportedly finalizing deals that would have them appearing on the show beginning next month, alongside judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, and L.A. Reid, says the website. When omg! caught up with Lopez this week, he wouldn't confirm or deny the recent headlines that have him in the final stages of contract negotiations with the singing competition show. "Well, you know, I've been hearing that rumor [about 'The X Factor'] myself, so we'll see," Lopez, who turns 39 on October 10, said with a grin. "I guess we'll just have to stay tuned."

But if Lopez does step onto "The X Factor" stage, he won't have any complaints about the woman rumored to be co-hosting with him. "I know the Kardashians very well. Very nice family, very sweet," Lopez noted. "I've had them on my show 'Extra' a bunch of times. I've known [Khloe] for years."

Until the deal is signed on the dotted line, Lopez is keeping busy with his many other projects. On Thursday, he held a press event with fans at a Kmart in L.A. to promote his new underwear line for the store called MaLo, which is a play on his name and also means "bad" in Spanish. "I really do like the MaLo line. It's got lots of great colors, and I'm just really happy with the way it turned out. What was important to me was that it was high-quality and affordable," Lopez noted, adding that his favorite from the line is "whatever pair is clean." Besides undies, MaLo merchandise includes T-shirts, socks, and workout gear. "Hopefully, it's only the beginning of a bunch of stuff that we'll get to do apparel-wise," Lopez added. Unfortunately, the buff celeb didn't bare his bod during the meet and greet, but he did sport the undies for a MaLo video in which he was painted gold!

While he's always been in good shape, the muscle man admitted that he hasn't always been the best dressed guy on TV. He and the other teenage cast members of '90s show "Saved by the Bell" were often decked out in stonewashed denim, sporting big hair as well as other trends of the day. So what's the worst thing he ever wore on the show? "Everything that was ever documented on 'Saved by the Bell!'" he exclaimed. "But, you know, it was a product of that time, from the Z. Cavariccis to the silky, flowy shirts, and the curly mullet I used to have … it's just not one of my best looks! But, you know, I love it, it makes me laugh when I look back."

The grown-up, more stylish Lopez is now set to marry Broadway dancer Courtney Mazza, the mother of his 2-year-old daughter Gia, on December 1. Though Gia's too young to be familiar with A.C. Slater just yet, that will likely change soon. "I'm sure my fiancee can't wait to bust out the DVDs," he cracked.
