Kris Humphries: ‘Some people just make bad decisions’

When you're a pro basketball player who marries a much-maligned reality "star" famous for being famous in a heavily advertised, nationally televised wedding ceremony and then splits from said reality star a little over two months later, well, get ready for some backlash.

By now, you've probably realized we're talking about Kris Humphries, the NBA player who got his 15 minutes of fame and then some when he married Kim Kardashian last summer, was separated from the famous sister by Halloween, and was recently given the honor of the league's most disliked player. "Some people just make bad decisions and you just know it's not what's meant to be," Humphries says in the latest issue of Page Six Magazine. "The decisions that you make, you obviously make for a reason. Everything in life for me has just been moving forward."

The 27-year-old has made his share of headlines over the last year, first for his marriage, then for his split, next for getting booed on the court ("It motivated me," he says), and more recently for his divorce battle with Kardashians. To top things off, he was accused by one woman of getting her pregnant and yet another of giving her herpes. Somehow, he hasn't lost faith in eventually finding long-lasting love.

"I think everyone wants a family of their own one day. You're at the point in your life when all of your friends are married and stuff," he explains. "For me, at least, everyone runs their own race. You can't put a timetable on it."

Though the 6'9" power forward has been on the New Jersey Nets since January 2010, the team will kick off its upcoming season as the Brooklyn Nets, with none other than borough native Jay-Z as a team owner. "I say hi when I see him. It's been great having him involved, because he is Brooklyn," says Humphries.

One guy he probably doesn't bump into much is Kardashian's new boyfriend, rapper Kanye West, who took aim at Humphries in a song he released in April: "And I'll admit, I had fell in love with Kim/Around the same time she had fell in love with him/ Well that's cool, baby girl, do ya thang/ Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team."

Humphries fired back in July after the team renewed his contract with a tweet: "I'm up at Brooklyn! @S_C_ (Jay-Z's Twitter handle) 'lucky I didn't have Jay drop me from the team' lol!"

The forward tells the magazine: "I have a sense of humor. It's whatever, I joke around. It was what it was. Take from it what you will."

The full interview with Kris Humphries will be available in Page Six Magazine, inside Thursday's edition of the New York Post, as well as online.
