Kate Middleton slipped out of her heels and into some wellies for a camping trip over the weekend.
The Duchess of Cambridge joined some inner-city schoolchildren for an outdoor adventure at the Expanding Horizons primary school camp in Kent, England on Sunday. Prince William's wife — who was relatively dressed down for the occasion in jeans, a sweater, a vest, and, um, $500 boots — sat around the campfire with the kids, visited their tents, and helped them cook a meal.
While chit-chatting with her new camper friends, the 30-year-old newlywed was asked about life as part of the royal family. "Well, it's been very busy and great fun … but I am very well looked after," she said, according to Us Weekly. Another child later shared her conversation with Middleton, saying, "She said she got to visit lots of countries but hadn't seen as many as William. She said William was very sweet and kind and spoiled her."
That same day, Middleton also visited her husband, Prince William, at a polo match in Tetbury and brought along a VIP (very important pooch): their dog Lupo! Again wearing her pricy all-weather boots, Kate showed up with the cocker spaniel puppy and chatted with a couple who had a young daughter. The little girl then helped Middleton walk Lupo, which is sure to spark a new crop of stories about the duchess starting a family with the prince. When William had a break in the polo action, he came over to see his bride and their puppy, which they brought home around the holidays. He was seen tenderly carrying the dog in his arms on the sidelines and giving it kisses on the head.
By Monday morning, Middleton was back to wearing more formal attire to attend an event at Windsor Castle with her stepmother-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and William's Aunt Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Kate was dressed in an all-white ensemble, including a button-down jacket and flared skirt by Alexander McQueen, and a coordinating fascinator, and happily chatted with the women. At the event, William was knighted by the queen in honor of his upcoming 30th birthday. As he walked by in a robe and plumed hat, Middleton couldn't take her eyes off him.
