This fall, Kate Hudson will be showing off her dance moves — and her bitchy side — during a six-episode guest gig on "Glee." The 33-year-old star, who is friends with show creator Ryan Murphy, will play Cassandra July, a mean girl dance instructor at Rachel's (Lea Michele) new school, NYADA. The role is putting Hudson, who took a break from Hollywood to expand her brood, back in the spotlight. Already a mom to 8-year-old Ryder (with musician Chris Robinson), Hudson and her fiancé, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy, welcomed their first child, Bingham, in 2011, and she's embracing her new family.
Speaking about her sons to Harper's Bazaar, Hudson calls 14-month-old Bing, who is already kicking a soccer ball (no doubt encouraged by his British father), "very determined. Ryder and Bing are polar opposites. In order to get a smile out of Ryder, you had to work really hard when he was a baby," she laughs. "Bing is just smiling — he's happy, he's joyous. Ryder, I knew he was going to be an artist. But Ryder is comfortable in his own skin." Even her pregnancies were very different. Ryder was a breeze. Bing? Not so much. "With Bing I was really nauseous," she says. "He also moved around so much that I felt like I was in 'Aliens.' He was just rockin' out."

So it seems that little Bing takes after his dad, whom Hudson met at a Thom Yorke concert at the Coachella music festival in 2010. The actress reveals she was attracted to Bellamy right away largely because he acted "protective" towards her, and says she was surprised the first time she saw him perform because his stage presence was so different from what she had come to know. "I didn't realize what I was walking into," she tells Harper's Bazaar. "I was just in awe of his ability and his talent. And then to know him on the other side of it, and how sweet and simple and loving he is. You know how people say that when you meet somebody you love, you feel at home?"

As for when they'll tie the knot, Hudson says they're not in a rush. She's been down that road before — with Chris Robinson in 2000 — and she wants to get it right this time. For now, they are splitting their time between a new home they purchased in London as well as their place in Los Angeles. "It's two very different lifestyles, but I feel really lucky to be able to expose the kids to both," says Hudson, who relies on her fellow pond-hopping pal Gwyneth Paltrow for advice about the best stores and other things in London. "But it takes planning, and for somebody like me who wants to fly by the seat of my pants all the time ... I can be such a gypsy, but with the kids in school, I'm learning how to be more organized."

In addition to "Glee," Hudson has some new movies in the works. She completed "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" with Kiefer Sutherland, which will be out in 2013. Then she's filming "Me and My Shadow" with "Saturday Night Live" star Bill Hader, and has signed on for the thriller "Everly." Now that's put a small dent into her 30s, she's just hitting her stride. "I shot 'Almost Famous' at 20, and I got married at 21. I had Ryder at 24 so, you know, a lot happened in my 20s. I was working a lot, and there were times that were extremely tumultuous. So 30 kind of felt like 'Oh, okay.' I had a different kind of confidence."
