Men of the world, take note. Blake Lively says it takes much more than just good looks, deep pockets, and a famous name to catch her eye.

"Confidence is sexy," admits the "Gossip Girl" star in the March issue of Elle. "When you see a man who's completely comfortable in his skin, it puts you at ease. You feel safe. You feel like you could trust him. You feel protected. You also feel like you can be yourself because nothing is going to rock him either way."

And although Lively, 24, has been linked to a slew of Hollywood's leading men, including Ryan Gosling, Leonardo DiCaprio, and most recently Ryan Reynolds, she insists she's no femme fatale. "I've had four boyfriends in my whole life," she says. " I've never been with anyone that's not a boyfriend."

In fact, the actress claims she didn't even begin dating until she was 17 when she started a three-year romance with fellow actor Kelly Blatz. When that ended in 2007, she fell into another three-year relationship with her "Gossip Girl" on-screen beau, Penn Badgley. And since last fall, she's been getting more serious with her "Green Lantern" love interest, Reynolds.

"If I spend time with a man, it's because they are somebody that I know well who has been a friend for a while," Lively tells the mag. "I've never gone on a date. Maybe I'm too shy."

But just because she's bashful when it comes to flirting, most men who lay eyes on the leggy blonde are not at a loss for words -- or shame. "I had a few strangers hit on me," Lively continues with a laugh. "Some guy acted like he liked my hat. Another acted like he liked my shoes! They're staring at your derriere, saying 'Hey, I really like your hat.' Come on, dude!"

Her fashion choices may have caught the attention of many -- from men on the street to design icons like Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld, who calls Lively "a kind of American dream girl" -- but the bubbly actress does it all with no help from a professional stylist.

"When I'm going to an event, I'll send Christian [Louboutin] a picture of my outfit and say, "What shoes do you think I should wear with this?" Her massive collection of "amazing shoes and bags" is the main reason Lively hopes to have daughters ones day. "If not girls, they better be trannies!" she adds.

The Best Makeup Combinations

With "Gossip Girl" nearing the end of its five-year run (the upcoming sixth season is reported to be its last), Lively is looking ahead to grittier projects, like a role as a tortured kidnap victim in Oliver Stone's "Savages." Still, she's grateful to the melodramatic CW drama that launched her career. "I wouldn't have the opportunities I have if I wasn't on this show," she tells Elle. "We're at this point now where it's the homestretch and for the first time, we feel the end."
