Reportedly, "The Walking Dead" may be the top-rated scripted show on TV. If this is a surprise to those who have never seen the post-apocalyptic drama series, it's not to its fans. One reason the show is doing so well is due to the excellent acting. Andrew Lincoln plays Rick Grimes, a small town sheriff's deputy and the leader of the group. What are five things you may not know about him?
1. Lincoln was "wired" after the season three axe scene.
Andrew couldn't sleep after shooting the season three premiere scene when Hershel Greene, played by Scott Wilson, gets the axe. "I did this scene, and I couldn't sleep for two and a half hours," said Andrew. "I was so wired. And it was largely down to the fact that I had an axe in my hand."
2. He has a British accent.
The actor who brought Rick Grimes to life has perfected a small town Southern accent. You'd never know that in reality he's British. The 39-year-old was born Andrew James Clutterbuck on September 14 in London, England.
3. The British actor doesn't believe in personal trainers.
Grimes believes in stamina not vanity. "On Friday I did an 18-hour day, including travel. I was up at quarter to six in the morning and got home at half past midnight. The day before we'd been outdoors all day. It was 90 to 95, and the humidity was up. So I don't need a trainer. I've got a zombie apocalypse to keep me fit."
4. Ian Anderson's daughter is his wife.
Mr. Lincoln married Gael Anderson who just happens to be the daughter of the Jethro Tull founder, Ian Anderson. They've been married since 2006.
5. Jon Bernthal is one of his best friends.
Shane, played by Jon Bernthal, kicked the bucket at the end of season 2. Says Lincoln about Shane's death, "As Rick, I feel quite relieved. As Andrew, I feel terribly sad. He's one of my closest friends in the cast. For the sake of the story, something had to give. I think it was an extraordinary episode. I think the writers wrote a brilliant and satisfying arc for Jon in the whole season two. It was an extraordinary scene to act in."
