UFC 187 Medical Suspensions: Belfort, Browne and Arlovski Face Lengthy Time Off

Several fighters from Saturday’s UFC 187: Johnson vs. Cormier event in Las Vegas received what could potentially be lengthy medical suspensions.

Topping the list were new UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who needs an MRI within the next six months, and several other fighters that could be suspended for up to six months depending upon their medical follow-ups.

The Nevada Athletic Commission is requiring Cormier to have a follow-up MRI “with and without contrast in six months.” That could keep him sidelined until November.

Fighters that could be out until Nov. 20 include Vitor Belfort, Andrei Arlovski, and Travis Browne.

Although she had to pull out of her fight with Rose Namajunas due to illness, Nina Ansaroff was also suspended. She must get medical clearance or she will also be out until Nov. 20.

The Nevada Athletic Commission released the UFC 187 medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com. UFC 187: Johnson vs. Cormier took place on Saturday, May 23, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
