Tango Takes Its News Feed to the Next Level

When Words Aren't Enough, Say More with a Song or Video

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 22, 2014) - Tango, a leader in mobile messaging, today unveiled its News Feed, which is out of beta and available to more than 200 million registered Tango members. The News Feed debuts with key enhancements that make it more dynamic, while giving members even more ways to express themselves.

Songs from Spotify Come To News Feed
Tango is the only messaging service that has integration with the Spotify catalog of more than 20 million songs. Since teaming up with Spotify last October, hundreds of millions of songs have been shared in one-on-one and group chats on Tango.

"Tango is one of the best ways to stay connected, and with today's announcement, we're expanding the capabilities of our service, and giving our members richer and more meaningful ways of expressing themselves," said CEO and Founder Uri Raz. "With music from Spotify now available in Tango's News Feed, it's a great way to share the moment. For example, if you're having a great day and want everyone to know it, share 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams to your News Feed."

Record and Share Videos
Video has always been a core element of the Tango experience. With the latest updates, Tango now also allows users to share video in their News Feeds. Simply record a video from within the Tango News Feed and, using iOS, upload a video clip from the gallery to share a favorite experience with friends.

More Coming to News Feed
In addition to video and songs from Spotify, members already have the option to post other types of content to their Tango News Feed including photos, text and links. Over the next few months, Tango's News Feed will also support stickers also known as Animated Surprises, game leaderboard updates (from game developers who have implemented Tango's SDK), and popular posts in member News Feeds.

"We're excited to make our News Feed experience richer and more engaging with music and video for members to connect with others, and making content an integrated part of conversations," said Jamie Odell, senior director of product management for Tango. The News Feed launch follows Tango's announcement of a partnership with Zynga and integration into "Words With Friends." Prior to that, Tango revealed a $280 million round of funding led by Alibaba Group.
