Is Cosmo robbing the cradle?
While the teen stars' Cosmopolitan cover poses aren't totally risqué, the bold-faced blurb of words on the covers tout article content such as "His Best Sex Ever," "50 Sex Tips" and "Your Orgasm Guaranteed."
But is this the place for a still-teen Disney queen?
Seems that Selena Gomez, fresh off her stint on Disney's "The Wizards of Waverly Place," isn't the first young star to pose for the magazine. Check out these other teen stars who posed for a sexy cover:
Controversy followed Brooke Shields from the start of her career, when she played a child prostitute in the movie "Pretty Baby" (the 12- year old's role included a nude scene). A few years later she starred in those suggestive Calvin Klein commercials and starred half-naked in "The Blue Lagoon." But Shields' 1980 Cosmo cover photo shoot established her as the magazine's youngest-ever cover model, at only 15 years old. So did all this provocative posing translate to a promiscuous teenhood for the star? Nope. Good girl Brooke maintains she remained a virgin until she was 22 year old.
She was only 11 years old when renowned photographer Richard Avedon chose her to be one of Revlon's "Most Unforgettable Women in the World," instantly putting her in the international spotlight. According to MillaJ.com, Milla Jovovich's first cover was for the October 1987 edition of Italian magazine Lei. And while the cover shot was all little girl next door, there was something disturbing about a 12-year old on the cover of Lei and not Young & Modern.
Long before K-Fed and the head shaving and the mental meltdown, pop tart Britney Spears shocked her young fans (or maybe it was their parents!) with a controversial Rolling Stone cover pose. Who can forget young Britney, purple Teletubby in hand, as she flaunted her bra and tighty satin whiteys? The 1999 Rolling Stone cover was the first of several for the then 17-year old pop star - and it threw her innocent schoolgirl shtick right out the window.
Boys can be bad, too! Or at least beefcakey. "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner was only 17 when he posed for his smoldering Rolling Stone cover. His pose in a wet t-shirt no doubt made its way onto countless tween girls' bedroom walls, while an inside shot flaunted his six-pack. Definitely not a boy next door, but maybe a werewolf!
